Mourinho, ITK, Aarons

Castagne-vs-Aarons

Hello once again folks, here we go with more Tottenham Tittle Tattle from the enlightened pen of the top Spurs blog, Tottenham Hotspur Blog News  or THBN for short.

Grab your cuppa once again, although it won't take you long to digest, but then that gives you time to dip into another article.

Spurs have let some medical staff go.

We have had a terrible season with injuries, we have some of the top facilities in the country as part of the magnificent infrastructure building we have undertaken, but instruments are only as good as the people using them.

The number of injuries would suggest we have work to do on injury prevention techniques.

I can tell you that José Mourinho is not happy with the medical department overall. He feels it needs restructuring and some staff need to move on.

As I keep saying, Mourinho likes the commitment of Erik Lamela and the Argentinian just needs to remain injury free to continue as a squad player.

Moussa Sissoko is a central midfielder, not a defensive midfielder, a position I have often criticised his positioning and anticipation in, plus his passing. Mourinho wants a more clued up defensive midfielder as he doesn't see that as Sissoko's best position.

We need someone in that position who is a better passer of the ball.

Serge Aurier once again showed he doesn't have the concentration to be a top quality right-back, his passing isn't good enough and his crossing is half that of Kieran Trippier.

Our daft fans wanted shot of the England man and he's now with probably the best defensive coach in Europe which speaks volumes about him and our fans knowledge of the game.

I'll write what I have written before, Davinson Sanchez is not worth the £40m we paid for him. He simply makes too many mistakes and he is another who goes to sleep.

He doesn't read the game well enough, which is the cornerstone of defending. If he read the game better he wouldn't be caught out the wrong side of his opponent so often.

We may not be able to replace him this coming window but I believe we should as soon as we can. The trouble is we need so many changes.

I also believe that Giovani Lo Celso might be better employed as a #10 which is what Real Betis converted him to, he was a defensive midfielder at PSG and started playing there for Betis until they switched him.

Lo Celso would be better in that role than Erik Lamela is my view.

What we saw against Sheffield United was once again a team going through the motions without any fire, without any desire.

Yes there were some trying but too many want to just play safe, play slow and when we get around the area we don't know what to do enough times, once or twice a game isn't good enough. I'd like to see Lo Celso's creativity there.

On young players, Mourinho boss has the opposite view to that of Mauricio Pochettino and he wants Spurs players out on loan getting game time.

Oliver Skipp is a prime example, he may be sent on loan to play every week in the Championship. Our Portuguese manager likes him, but feels he needs game time under his belt.

I'll repeat what I have said before, we need arrangements with clubs in Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy and Germany at least to send youngsters to to get game time and this would help out clubs who struggle financially as well, so it's a win-win situation.

When Christian Eriksen came to Spurs,Ajax wanted Tom Carroll but he didn't want to leave England and turned then down. His career has stalled ever since. I believe had he gone to Holland he would be a far better player than he is now.

Travelling abroad means a youngster has to grow up, they have to mature and perhaps less of them would then leave searching for first-team football. Youngsters abroad get opportunities out of financial necessity so why not our youngsters getting first-team football abroad.

Why not include it as part of the training, a season at a foreign club. It takes them out of their comfort zone and challenges them. It would give us a better idea how they would react in pressure situations too.

A spot on ITK -
"Spurs have an agreement in place for Eze and that the player visited the training ground in January. Luke Amos would also be part of the deal. The club have a brilliant relationship with everyone at QPR."
No that's not me saying that, I told you all the same thing last summer and again in January, then reminded you all once more in a recent article and then up pop a spot of ITK.

More outstanding ITK -
"Spurs will look to offload Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Danny Rose and Luke Amos when the summer transfer window opens."
Yep that is genuinely being put out there as ITK, I'd be too embarrassed to put that out on an ITK account.

Still, it's only what I wrote in the same article. It's a pleasure to help you out fellas.

Here is some more that is common knowledge and has been for a while, but apparently this ITK account have only just found out. Even then they haven't got it right! Can you spot what they have left out?

This was all posted about 15:15 hrs on 30th June 2020.

Did you spot it?

Tottenham are not allowed to use any of the £175m (€194.06m - AUS$316.10m - US$219.01m) loaned from the Bank of England at 0.5% interest for buying players or paying their ages.

This has all been in the press since the beginning of the month.

A loan from the Bank of England at a cheap rate was only available to two teams in the Premier League who have top level credit rating, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

It possibly offers Daniel Levy the chance to pay off more expensive bank loans, not start repayments to the Bank of England for a year and save the club millions in interest payments.

It is being use to help our cash flow situation, it is not for players.

I kid you not, I haven't made this up. How long have you all known, a year?

This chap has only just found out apparently!

Now to be fair to him he does say that he is not ITK, just receives information from reliable sources, which is the same thing isn't it?

Anyway, if you receive that news, news that has been common knowledge foir a year, would you have tha gall to put it out as ITK?

Not what I'd call a reliable source.

As ever with our fans, they call for a trophy but when we bring in a serial winner they call for him to be sacked and these people pretend to be supporters, they are only supporters if everything is done their way, which would lead to a ban from Europe, bankruptcy and no trophies anyway.

José Mourinho since taking over Spurs has:
Increased Spurs Premier League position by 7 places
Increased Spurs points per game from 1.17 to 1.63
Increased Spurs goals scored per game from 1.5 to 1.7
Decreased Spurs goals conceded per game from 1.42 to 1.26

Where it matters Spurs are improving.

I appreciate Spurs fans don't like the football, but we are totally changing our style of play. I don't remember Spurs fans complaining about the style of football Chelsea played, only the fact they were buying success.

Our players have to learn the system, that isn't going to take a couple of weeks.

To build a house you must first build firm foundations.

That is what Mourinho is doing, he is building a firm defence, a firm system into which we can add attacking flair.

He hasn't had a summer transfer window to change anything yet so supporters should be giving him time to turn us into winners.

On to the full-back role.

Paul Mitchell is now overseeing Monaco's recruitment and thus 27-year-old (28 in November) Frenchman Serge Aurier has been mentioned as a player they are interested in.

I am not a fan,but if I stop and dispassionately assess Aurier, then he isn't as bad as he at first appears under Mourinho.

I added the undr Mourinho there because he is perhaps defensively stronger now, he hasn't made the rash challenges in the box he is so renown for or football has been away so long that I have forgotten.

There are better out there yes. We need an additional right-back yes.

Maz Aarons tops the list but I'm keen on 24-year-old (25 in December) Belgian international Timothy Castagne currently at Atalanta.

We could treble his Atalanta wage packet and he'd still only be on £30,000-a-week (€33,267 - AUS$54,189 - US$37,545).

A full international, with Champions League experience and experience in a country that loves defending, Italy.

Now ask yourself. Is he going to be worse than Aarons who will want higher wages?

Like it or not, this has to be a consideration and it is part of the deliberations that go into buying a player.

On Aarons side, he is importantly homegrown and has a seasons Premier League football under his belt and we are not the only ones following the Chelsea fan, his preferred club therefore.

Let's see how they fare against each other.

A quick performance comparison, always difficult with different leagues and side is different positions in the table. You would expect Norwich City to do more defending and thus require more tackles, clearance, blocks etc.

Atalanta are still in the UEFA Champions League and sit 4th in Serie A and Aarons has played a lot more minutes than Castagne..

Timothy Castagne - 1,520 minutes, 2 goals, 1 assist. 4 yellow cards
Shots per game:: 0.8
Pass success: 85.3%
Aerial duels won per game: 1.1
Max Aarons - 2,700 minutes, 0 goals, 1 assist, 7 yellow cards
Shots per game: 0.4
Pass success: 78.3%
Aerial duels won per game: 0.5

Timothy Castagne - Tackles per game 1.1
Interceptions per game: 0.5
Fouls per game: 0.8
Clearances per game: 0.5
Blocks per game: 0.2
Max Aarons - Tackles per game 1.4
Interceptions per game: 0.9
Fouls per game 0.9
Clearances per game: 1.8
Blocks per game: 0.8

Dribbled past per game they are both 0.5

I would bring in the Belgian myself and save some money.

Homegrown is important so there is an argument for selling non-homegrown 28-year-old (29 in January) Argentinian Paulo Gazzaniga (under contract until 2022) and bring in 32-year-old (33 in March) homegrown former England international Fraser Forster.

At least that is until you consider their respective weekly wages;
Gazzaniga £20,000 - (€22,162 - AUS$36,046 - US$24,936)
Forster £70,000 - (€77,567 - AUS$126,121 - US$87,276)
Joe Hart £45,000 - (€49,865 - AUS$81,104 - US$56,106)

I guess at those wages you'd stick with Gazzaniga and spend your wages in other areas.

However, if you want a good laugh just take a look at our so-called ITK friends Tweet, it beggars belief, not only about Vorm, (37 in Oct) but that we would consider paying £45k a week for a third choice when our number 2 is on £20k a week!

If you are going to pretend to be ITK, then at least be credible!
