Wilson and Winks

"I would have thought that given how much we saved in the market over the last couple of seasons we should be able to afford Messi, even with the damage done by the virus pandemic."
I came across this statement on Spurs community from someone who clearly doesn't follow Spurs very closely, given we spent £184m on recruitment in the last financial year including over £130m on new players.
Clearly no idea about finances at all, no idea we have built a new stadium to pay for, no idea of the impact of the pandemic and no idea we owe more in transfer fees than every club but Manchester United, thanks to investment last summer and again in January!
It just frustrates me that there are clueless people like this spouting nonsense to equally clueless people.
What sort of so-called supporter wants you to lose games so they can get their wish and have a manager sacked.
Yes I have seen that too.
Yes I have seen that too.
Why do people have to support with an agenda, why can't they just support the club?
It is not tough to do.
Some people just like to be depressed it seems, it is their life choice and they wonder why people avoid them and block them.
When you do the toys come out the pram and abuse behind your back starts, children
Positive people cut out negative people, simple.
If you get blocked,it is because you are negative or abusive when I won't sink to having the failure mindset you work so hard on.
I write for the fan who enjoys supporting Tottenham, for the fan who has hopes, who sees things in a positive light.
Right now we have a lull in the transfer market as players are on holiday and others are still involved in European competition and will then be going on holiday.
Our targets haven't changed, they remain the same.
Our was asked who I thought our next signing would be and Callum Wilson was my answer.
I think the homegrown element will sway it and the fact he has Premier League experience helps.
He is an England goalscorer and you would hope with better players around him creating more chances he will return to his form prior to this season which only yielded 8 Premier League goals.
Mind you,Brooks and Fraser were injured for much of the season so a lot of creativity was ost for Bournemouth.
I have written about confidence, about positivity.
As a new signing he would bring that energy and it is down to Mourinho to harness that in a better way than Pochettino did.
It is looking more and more likely that he is our option, we just need to nail down a fee at a sensible price for us and use his lack of scoring last season to drive down the price and the need to get his wages off their books as soon as possible.
He seems to me like a sensible option, safe option, who with enough football and that is the key, enough football, could thrive.
We must rest Kane this season with games packed tightly together so there is going to have to be rotation, more rotation than there would normally be.
That augurs well for him settling in and becomming a success.
He could be a shrewd piece of business.
I discussed the three main striker options, Callum Wilson Andruz Milik and Habib Diallo.
The question is, how long do you wait for Napoli to reduce the price to a level we want and if they did, would Juventus sign him, assuming new boss Pirlo wanted him.
Habib Diallo can wait until the end of the window, but would Wilson wait for Spurs if we are waiting for Milik.
That's the dilemma here plus the fact that Milik still needs to be convinced he would get enough game time with Kane around.
Wilson has work rate, commitment, is a goalscoring threat and will surely want to prove himself at a bigger club so should have the right attitude to bring his A game.
He is more mobile than a 30+ player like Llorente and will get more time than Janssen or Soldado were given.
Anyway,as I say,if I were to guess, I think he'll be our next incoming.
Moving to outgoings or lack of outgoings, Harry Winks isn't going to be sold to Manchester City, he isn't a player Mourinho wants to let go and you might see him play a slightly different role.
He played for England in a more advanced role and scored a goal so don't be surprised if you see more of that this season.
In my recent post on Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, the defensive table from an Everton fan showed the Dane to be the 2nd best player in the Premier League in the defensive midfield position. It also showed that Winks had work to do in that area, perhaps suggesting his talents might lie elsewhere.
He played more advanced in the academy we'll have to see how José develops him.
Right let's wind this post up, can't give you a long read every day, mix it up.
Au Revoir people, I'm off to see if I can see the frogs again.
