Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Napoli, West Ham United and Manchester United have all made inquiries about out of contract in the summer Thomas MeunierEmerson

Spurs are also in the market for the 28-year-old (29 in September) PSG right-back and the Belgian international (40 caps) has spoken to José Mourinho over the phone.

Our manager spoke to Meunier to convince him he sees a more important role for him at Spurs than he has at PSG and reports from France suggest he was impressed putting Spurs at the head of the queue.

His first option is to stay at PSG but they haven't even contacted him about an extension. That tells you a lot with only a month to go.

Our main rivals are Borussia Dortmund whom he has been speaking to for months report Sport BILD.

He has started just 52% of his clubs league games this season.

You don't put all your eggs in one basket though so we have shown interest in other options.

Spurs have made a "significant enquiry" to Strasbourg over the availability of defender Mohamed Simakan.

The 19-year-old (20 next May) full-back can operate as both a centre-back and right-back and the French club have already started seeking a long-term replacement.

As a technically accomplished ball-playing defender with a powerful physique and determination, he has been playing in a three man defence which would give us another option.

Simakan told Téléfoot that his preference was to stay at Strasbourg but Real Betis, Valencia, Sevilla, RB Leipzig, Everton, Southampton and Borussia Dortmund are all chasing him, although I hear Dortmund have dropped their interest.

"My season was very good. Now I have to repeat it next season. I hope I can continue playing in Strasbourg."

His suggested value is £17.98m (€20m - AUS$33.36m - US$22.14m) although I hear we value him at £13m (€14.46m - AUS$24.11m - US$16m).

He has started 63% of his clubs league games this season

OK, who else.

Another option on our list is 19-year-old (20 in December) Sergiño Dest. He is a Dutch-born American who plays as a right-back for Dutch club Ajax.

Dest has an American father and has represented the United States at senior level since 2019.

You'll have read all about him so I'm not going to go over it all again, but Bayern Munich are thought to be the front runners at the moment ahead of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Spurs.

He has been seen in full Barcelona training kit within the lat week.

The USA international, he has 3 full caps, has started 60% of his clubs league games this season.

Max Aarons remains a target. Norwich City will undoubtedly be relegated and he will have to be sold.

The  20-year-old (21 next January) isn't going to ruin his career by accepting playing in the Championship after a season in the Premier League.

Norwich could still survive so, given that he is high on our list, we may delay buying a right-back until the season is fully over, unless we can pick up a free transfer.

The England U-21 international has 5 caps and has started 93% of his clubs league games this season.

Next is RB Leipzig’s 22-year-old (23 in November) French U-21 international right-back Nordi Mukiele.

Atlético Madrid and PSG are also tracking the youngster who can play at centre-back or right wing as well as in a back three.

We have approached the players representatives and he does know of our interest. He excelled against us in the Champions League where Leipzig played us off the park.

Mukiele is strong and fast, qualities we are looking for, with good positioning and anticipation which shows he reads the game well. To add to hat he has a good passing range.

The youngster has started just 57% of his clubs league games this season.

To throw a few more names watched players.

26-year-old (27 in September) Ricardo Pereira at Leicester City you all know about and of our long-term interest, but he is too expensive.

Spurs have long been tracking the Portuguese international, he has 7 full caps and has started 97% of his clubs league games this season.

Leicester are adamant they do not want to sell him and challenging for a Champions League place, why would they.

Then there is 26-year-old (27 next January) Hans Hateboer of Serie A side Atalanta, whom I haven't heard mentioned elsewhere.

Atalanta are in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and it seems few from Italy find their way to the Premier League, despite the lure of higher wages.

The Dutch international has 3 full caps and has started 68% of games for his club this season.

And 21-year-old (22 in January) Emerson at LaLiga side Real Betis, on loan from Barcelona until 2021.

He has just recently indicated to the Spanish press that his desire is to stay at Real Betis until his loan spell runs out and return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian international, he has 1 full cap, has started 85% of his clubs league games this season.

I hear we are particularly interested in Emerson and are pushing hard to convince Meunier.

Again, this isn't anywhere near the full list.

Tomorrow morning I'll bring you a simple comparison table which compares 10 Tottenham right-back targets against the benchmark, Serge Aurier.
