Tottenham Tittle Tattle - Strikers

Hello folks, some more Tottenham Tittle Tattle for you.

Harry is back, no not Redknapp, but Harry Kane. He starts against Manchester United José Mourinho has confirmed today.

Giovani Lo Celso has not taken part in full training this week and remains a doubt. He will be given a fitness test tomorrow to assess his fitness.

He might be on the bench and come on at half-time or in the second half depending upon how the game is going.

Once again, Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik is linked with Spurs again with the old story simply rehashed and us reminded that José Mourinho likes him.

I'm afraid that gets written a lot, it is still being written about fellow Polish international striker Krzysztof Piątek, yet Mourinho turned down the chance of signing Piątek permanently because he was overpriced and wanted to wait until the summer anyway.

Does that constitute liking a player?

Piątek made a permanent move to Hertha Berlin which suited AC Milan who didn't really want to loan him out,but he has flopped there are reports from Germany say they are already trying to sell him.

Dodged a bullet?

Just because Spurs track a player doesn't mean Mourinho like the player, just that he is of interest as the type of player we are looking for and has decent figures or potential.

I have written several times and I'll repeat it again, Milik wants to join Juventus and Juventus are looking at ways of signing him.

They are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic financially so are looking at loans and player swaps. Juventus have offered Napoli 26-year-old (27 next February) right-winger Federico Bernardeschi, another player Spurs track.

Transfermarkt Bernardeschi (Juventus) valuation: £25.2m - Goal Participation 0%
Transfermarkt Milik (Napoli) valuation: £28.8m - Goal Participation 21%
Transfermarkt Piątek (Hertha Berlin) valuation: £19.35m - Goal Participation 19%

I do not see Milik coming to Spurs.

31-year-old (32 in August) Zenit St Petersburg striker and Russia captain Artem Dzyuba coming as a free agent remains my number one hunch, followed by 25-year-old (26 in June) Senegal international Habib Diallo in second place.

Transfermarkt Dzyuba (Zenit) valuation: £11.7m - Goal Participation 52%
Transfermarkt Diallo (Metz) valuation: £10.8m- Goal Participation 55%

There is nothing in the Thiago Silva stories, his wages are way beyond our reach and I have mentioned a couple of time my preference and a player we have definitely been following and spoken to, Diego Godin.

He has an offer from Inter Miami but he wants to remain in Europe but his wages are again the stumbling block.

The 34-year-old (35 in February) Inter centre-back is asking for £5.4m (€6m - AUS$9.82m - US$6.74m) and we won't entertain paying that, nor will anyone else at the moment.

£5.4m divided by 52 = £103,806

Philippe Coutinho was offered to Tottenham who took note but has not pursued the matter as his wages are too high. Yes Barcelona are now offering to pay some, desperate as they are to get him off the books and get an income for him.

When you factor in the transfer fee and his wages he is simply a luxury item that post pandemic is not within out budget.
