In Transfer Talk today, a quick update piece about players Spurs have been linked with, a piece of news on foreign players in Turkey and the origin of the penalty kick.

There is a link below to the piece on Jan Vertonghen and Chris Smalling, whom I played cricket with, indeed captained when he was a colt at my club.

The penalty was the idea of an Irish goalkeeper 129 years ago. In 1891, the penalty kick was officially introduced after an idea from William McCrum to punish the increasingly frequent fouls committed near to the goal to prevent clear opportunities being converted.

Sami Khedira has been a name mentioned but unsurprisingly he wants to stay at Juventus where he is on high wages. With his terrible injury record it would be a big gamble for anyone to sign him.

Radio Kiss Kiss are reporting that Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli has told Spurs target Arkadiusz Milik that if he doesn't sign a new contract this summer, he will be sold.

That won't disturb him, he wants to join Juventus who remain the favourites to sign the 26-year-old (27 in February) Polish international goalscorer.

However, newspaper Repubblica reports that the Italian club will sell Milik to a Premier League club for a cheaper price than the £44.76 million (€50m - AUS$82.52m - US$55.6m) they are asking from Juventus as they would rather not sell to a rival again.

RB Leipzig have said that star striker Timo Werner has a non-negotiable price of £52 million (€50m - AUS$82.52m - US$55.6m).

Would that be a better deal?

It would if that were the price but I have also seen suggests in Germany that they have slapped a whopping £88 million (€98.40m - AUS$162.24m - US$109.46m) on him. That looks to be nearer the mark when you don't want to sell.

The Super Lig football clubs in Turkey have voted to decrease the number of foreign players from 14 to 12 per team and outlaw the transfer of foreign players older than 32 reports news outlet Hurriyet.

Talking of strikers, Hertha Berlin are looking to offload January signing Krzysztof Piątek whom José Mourinho, yes José Mourinho thought was overpriced and not worth chancing at the suggested transfer fee.

Well,he didn't last long at Hertha Berli did he.

Fiorentina are looking to bring him back to Italy on loan until 2022 when the purchase of the 24-year-old (25 in July) Polish international striker would become mandatory.

Further evidence of the market we are in now, one where you try not to spend much money amid financial uncertainty.

Piątek has started just 50% of the games he has been available for for his new German side, scoring 3 goals in 10 games.

He has played 59% of the minutes available to him and has been involved in 15% of their goals. By comparison, Harry Kane has been involved in 27% of Spurs goals.
