Ndombele Highlights Mental Malaise at Spurs

I have spoken several times about the poor defensive work on Tanguy Ndombele, his poor defensive positioning and lazy approach in general.

People generally only see what a player does hen he has the ball and if he does something significant they forget everything else and suggest what a great player he is or how he has improved. Rose-tinted glasses.

There is a world of difference between a player with a positive mental attitude, a winning mentality like Harry Kane and the rest.

You can not compare Harry Kane and Troy Parrott for instance. Dele Alli isn't in the same league mentally as Kane and I highlighted our general negativity that contributed to handing Wolves an equalizing goal.

Watch this clip from a Wolves fan on Twitter who was at the game, DingBerry.

Do not watch the Wolves player with the ball, watch Ndombele and tell me if you find this acceptable?

It is nowhere near acceptable and is yet more evidence to show why we need psychologists also assessing players who are our potential transfer targets, plus why sports psychologists as an integral part of training are required.

or if you don't use Twitter...

He even pulls back at one point so as not to get in the way of the guy with the ball!

I'm sorry but that is down to mental attitude. Is he going to fight in the trenches to achieve anything? Only if it suits him, only if someone else does all the work and just gives him the ball.

Tell me, has he got a positive or a negative mindset?

He takes to the field to try and won a football game but has he got a winning mindset?

Hopefully, that highlights to some of you the difference, just trying to win a football match is not a winning mindset.

Sorry Jose, it doesn't matter how fast their players are when you amble about, anyone would be faster than Ndombele with his lazy approach.
