Parrott, another with the wrong mental attitude?

Parrott, another with the wrong mental attitude?

Too many players these days are too interested in their social media profile than concentrating on improving themselves as players, Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli to name two.

I have been saying that Troy Parrott needs all of this season before he would be ready for cameo roles next season and that has not changed.

He isn't ready.

Jose Mourinho keeps confirming he isn't ready.

Parrott has not played any football in 2020.

Parrott has played 582 minutes of football this season at all levels.

Parrott has played just 95 minutes since the end of the Youth League (runs parallel to the Champions League) in November.

Why would he be ready for Premier League or Champions Lague football?

Jose Mourinho has had a chat with him about his attitude off the field and mapping out his future on it. One does affect the other.

As I keep saying mentality is everything.

He was not with the squad during the week.

Remember Marcus Edwards, hugely talented but though he didn't have to listen to anyone, thought he knew it all, thought he could just go out and play, but that isn't how football works.

The manager has a system and you fit within that system performing a role that he tells you to, then and only then can you add your individuality and leave your mark on the game.

Edwards played a League Cup game and simply got pushed off the ball by grown men. Talent is not enough.

Parrott has been seen out with a major drug dealer's son in Dubai.

You can read about that in the Irish Sun article.

As a professional footballer, you have a duty to the children who idolize players and that means having the right public image.

Who you hang out with is important and Parrott is perhaps a little stuck with his own ego and image to look cool, except to adults, gangster association isn't cool.

Is Troy Parrott going to be another Marcus Edwards or is he going to grow up and fulfill his potential in a professional manner?

Spurs have a striker crisis, he is a striker who hasn't played any football. What would a professional with a proper winning mentality do?

I'll tell you, he would be asking the boss what areas of his game he needs to improve and can he work on them one-on-one with a coach during the break. He would do everything he could to be in the best shape and position to put pressure on to be picked.

Erik Lamela isn't everyone's cup of tea and is frequently injured, but, did he go back to Argentina during the break? No, he stayed at Spurs working.

Just in case you are wondering Mourinho has had a word with Dele Alli too, another whose lack of professionalism caused a downturn in form.

Remember an England winger too interested in partying, David Bentley, destroyed his career and couldn't get his game back. Quite frankly Dele is struggling to get his A-game back, his performance in front of goal and in the final third is poor.

He is getting into the positions and then missing the chances or playing a poor final ball to and an attack, even when it an easy pass.

His problems are mental too.

I'll say it yet again, mentality is everything at the top level and searching out those with the right mentality to go with the skill is paramount, yet in football, it is done in an amateur way when it is simple and cheap to adopt a more professional approach

Oliver Skipp has patiently been waiting for a chance to show what he can do, which Mourinho has also acknowledged. He was almost forced to give Tanganga time but has been able to rotate in midfield.

Skipp has played 117 minutes of football and hasn't played for the Development side since September 2018.

People were calling for Sessegnon to play left-back, even though he looks like a boy playing a man's game. He doesn't have the physical strength yet and looks a weak link every time he does play.

Why is he even being suggested as a striker, he isn't one at this level, he is a wide attacking player and only a weak one at Premier League level at that. He needs to improve a lot.
