Spurs Scouting News

A Tottenham scout was at the recent UEFA Europa League tie on between Celtic and Rennes which saw Celtic advance from the group stages.

Celtic won the game 3-1 and have since finished top of Group E

17-year-old Gillingham goalkeeper Joe Walsh is being monitored by a number of Premier League apart from Spurs and also Bundesliga clubs. Premier League rivals include Manchester City and Everton. Scottish champions Celtic and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are all watching him too.

11 English clubs sent scouts to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Southampton and Watford.

In total, 79 clubs from around the world sent scouts to the tournament, 13 from Spain, 12 from Germany, 11 from England, 9 from Portugal, 7 from Italy.

A report in Spain, Marca, suggests than Giovani Lo Celso is tempted to ask Tottenham to let him leave in January, but given Spurs paid a €16m (£13.7m - AUS$25.99m - US$17.73m) loan fee that is highly unlikely. I don't see Real Betis wanting to hand a chunk of money back to Spurs.

That might explain his inept display against Bayern Munich when he had a chance to impress, he didn't take it.

Of course, it might be that he is still getting used to a new culture, a new language, a new league and a new playing style, let alone a new manager.

Schalke captain, goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is out of contract at the end of the season and Paulo Gazzaniga, while good, isn't a top-class keeper, something Tottenham will need if Hugo Lloris is going to continue his decline.

Reports suggest the 23-year-old (24 next September) former German Under-21 international (17 caps) will refuse a contract extension, but wants to stay in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich interested.

He has turned down several offers and has been made captain as a further incentive to stay. The Royal Blues most recent offer was a contract until 2024 that would see his salary rise to €5 million a year and include a release clause of between €10-20m.

Much like Christian Eiksen, Danny Rose, Alderweireld (although he has now signed a new contract as suggested he would once he was made captain for a pre-season friendly) and Jan Vertonghen, he has been running down his contract with Schalke.

Tottenham are tracking young left-footed Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski. The 19-year-old (20 next April), currently on loan at Parma from Atalanta, has 3 goals and 5 assists already this season.

He was born in Stockholm and could have represented North Macedonia until he played in a Group qualifier against the Faroe Islands for 25 minutes in November.

Italian side Atalanta are said to value him at £38.5m, with Juventus, Inter Milan, Torino, Lecce, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal also interested.

The Chelsea fan is very good one-on-one, has an eye for a pass, is physically strong and importantly in today's game, is quick.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, 23-year-old (24 next June) Italian international (12 caps, 1 goal) central midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini is about to agree on a new long-term with AS Roma.

The former Sassuolo player has been playing for the Giallorossi first-team since 2017/18 and is being tracked by Tottenham, Juventus, and Inter Milan.

Also on Spurs radar is 21-year-old (22 next January) Norwich City centre-back Ben Godfrey

Spurs made inquiries last summer, and he is firmly on their radar ahead of the upcoming window. The defender is valued at £20-25m.

He has the 5th highest pass success rate in the Premier League with 91.6%.

Tottenham sent a scout to the Boavista vs Benfica game in Portugal reported A Bola last week.

Our scout, Brian Carey, watched the Preston North End vs WBA game on Wednesday. He was watching 19-year-old (20 next October) defender Nathan Ferguson.

Ferguson is an England Under-20 (2 caps) full-back who also represented England at Under-18 (1 cap) and Under-19 (3 caps) levels.

His contract at the Championship club, hoping to secure promotion straight back to the Premier League after relegation last season, ends at the end of the season.

They fear losing him so may have to sell in January to recoup some money at least, although they will be entitled to compensation for developing him should he leave in the summer.

Tottenham watched him against Swansea City and he put in an excellent display, against Preston North End his game was error-prone.

WBA manager Slaven Bilić gave him his debut in the opening game of the season and since the right-footed defender has started 8 games as a right-back and 9 as a left-back.

For England he started and played the full game as a left-back against Portugal U-20's, as a centre-back against the Czech Republic U-20's and a centre-back against Switzerland U-20's.

Crystal Palace have also reportedly been watching him.

Tottenham will be sending a scout to watch 25-year-old (26 next April) Vedat Muriqi, who was an Albanian U-21 player (4 caps, 1goal) but chose to play for Kosovo (23 caps, 8 goals).

Napoli, Lazio and Atlético Madrid will also send scouts to Istanbul on Sunday, where 5th place Fenerbahçe play a derby game against 3rd place Beşiktaş.

Leicester City and Crystal Palace are also sending a scout to the game to watch 24-year-old (25 next March) Ozan Tufan.

Muriqi has scored 10 goals in 15 games with a further 3 assists. He has scored in 8 individual games and in another an assist so it isn't as if a batch of goals have come against one side.
