Spurs Scouting In Portugal

Spurs Scouting In Portugal

Spurs-Scouting-In-Portugal

Thursday night saw Tottenham Hotspur send a scout over to Portugal to watch the Porto vs Rangers Europa League game that ended in a creditable 1-1 draw for the Scots in a game I had underestimated them for.

Crystal Palace were also there. They were there watching 23-year-old (24 next June) Glasgow Rangers Colombian international (3 caps) centre-forward Alfredo Morelos.

As is usual in Portugal, there were a host of scouts from around Europe, Saint Étienne, Rennes, Monaco, Nice, Bordeaux, Manchester United, Everton, Atalanta, SPAL, Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke.

The previous day, Spurs also had a scout at the Benfica vs Lyon match in the Champions League together with Burnley, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester City, Manchester City, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Watford and Arsenal from the Premier League alone.

Who were we watching over these two games?
  • 31-year-old (32 next May) Argentinian international (7 caps) goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin under contract at Porto until 2023
  • 22-year-old (23 next January) Colombian international (7 caps, 1 goal) left-footed right-sided midfielder/winger Luis Díaz under contract at Porto until 2024

  • 22-year-old (23 next May) Portuguese international (16 caps) right-footed centre-back Rúben Dias under contract at Benfica until 2024

  • 26-year-old (27 next May) Portuguese international (17 caps) right-footed left-sided midfielder Rafa Silva under contract at Benfica until 2024

We were also keeping an eye on:
  • 26-year-old (27 next December) Brazilian international (1 cap) left-back (or midfield/winger) Alex Telles under contract at Porto until 2021

  • 24-year-old (25 next September) Spanish Under-21 international (2 caps) left-back Álex Grimaldo under contract at Benfica until 2021
