Poch tells journalists they are wrong yet again

Journalists have it wildly wrong yet again as Mauricio Pochettino pointed out during his pre-game press conference.

One of their number with allegations of being sex pest has been sacked for, let's say, not being accurate in the hiring process and another, Independent's Political Sketch Writer Tom Peck thinks calling someone a pedophile on social media is funny. Wonder if he has children himself?

That demonstrates the type of people who go into journalism and explains why they print so much dishonesty, quite apart from having no knowledge hoe to coach or run a successful major business.

In response to a question about several changes to the squad in January, Pochettino replied that he didn't think there would be any changes and that he didn't need them.

When will these people learn?

I see some are claiming he has made a U-turn, What utter cobblers. He hasn't changed plans at all, it is just that the journalist's perception was wrong, that the journalists have misread a situation yet again because they are clueless about building squads and often, it would seem, the general football environment, as the editor of Football.London demonstrated to me.

Clubs do not make quality players available in January, they have no idea whether they can secure a replacement or whether any replacement would have a positive effect.

Journalists and fans always assume that every signing is immediately going to fit in, adapt to our specific requirements and reproduce their best form outside of a system that may have been designed around them. Not all players can adapt to a new system.

The reality is that there are few players available in January as clubs wait for the summer to make changes. January is for panic buying.

We were able to buy Lucas Moura in the January window because he wasn't playing and it took him until the following season to get fit and adapt his game to the game we wanted him to play. He was basically a winger but for us isn't, he plays more central and he had to do a lot of work learning the defensive side of our game.

We have not been in the situation where we have had several players coming to the end of their contracts but it doesn't benefit the players to move in January either, they would get bigger signing on fees and wages if they wait until they can be signed for free, any transfer fee would have to come out of the pot of money assigned to their arrival.
