It was the first visit for Southampton to Spurs one billion pound stadium and a big challenge awaited them.

Coming in, Saints were not deemed a good team by the experts and as you'd expect against a side consistently in the top for the last few years, coming out of the game with anything would have been a big result for them.

But anything can happen in football!

This was only the second Premier League fixture ever to be played in five different stadiums, White Hart Lane, St Mary's, Wembley, The Dell and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs had a three in midfield with Winks sitting in front of the back-four and two strikers, or one off the other. This is the new system the players are having to get used to this season.

Yoshida for Saints had the first opportunity of the game after a foul by Sissoko that Bertram curled into the box. The Southampton man jumped well over his man but couldn't keep the ball down from his header with Danny Rose applying pressure but not actually getting off the ground.

Saints were having problems down their left. A beautiful move from Rose, Ndombélé and Son saw Ndombélé toe-poke the ball over the bar, although a deflection gave us a corner.

You don't need me to tell you about the mental aberrations of Serge Aurier or Hugo Lloris, but I would like to applaud Sissoko for the shift he put in a right-back. He even started the move for the goal after collecting a Winks interception toe-poke he hoisted the ball up the line for Kane to win in the air and play inside to Son.

Son back out wider to Eriksen forward to Son running past him, Son turns it back inside to Eriksen who has cut inside into the area. He pokes it on to Kane who knocks it back inside past his man to then shoot into the net.

Let's just enjoy the relief of a victory.
