Winks, Davies and Rose

Harry Winks is still underrated by many fans but is an important part of the squad and has developed into an important member of the England squad too. We missed him in the Nations League and the performances of Rice and Delph just emphasized his absence.

He wasn't picked because Garet Southgate wouldn't have been able to see him train, his first game back was the UEFA Champions League final, such is his importance to Spurs.

His development is one of the reasons we are happy to let Victor Wanhama leave. He doesn't just jog sideways across the pitch as Rice and Delph did for England meaning the national side had no out ball from the back and struggled to beat the press.

Winks creates angles and is happy twisting and turning to beat a man and start an attack. That does require movement in midfield to give him passing options and we weren't good enough in that respect last season.

Tottenham have given Harry Winks a significant pay rise and added a year onto his contract. It is how we like to maintain players on long contracts and keep their transfer fee high to prevent other clubs stealing them cheap.

"I have been at the Spurs since I was five-years-old. I am due a testimonial I reckon! Spurs is in my DNA. I love the club." Harry Winks on talkSPORT.

Both he and Ben Davies have signed new contracts until 2024.

Ben Davies is a dependable defender who can cover centre-back, even though he doesn't play there that often for us. He does for Wales. You need dependable types in your squad and Pochettino clearly sees his worth, even if some fans don't.

Now there are a lot of tweets complaining about the club supposedly putting Danny Rose on the transfer list.

This boils down to his contract situation and his fitness. His current contract expires in 2021, thus he has 2 seasons left and is now worth more than he will be next summer.

He is no spring chicken anymore, he is 29-years-old (30 next July). The club has to consider the long term. If he doesn't sign then the club will listen to offers, but listening to offers isn't the same as having a player on the transfer list, so those reports are plain wrong.

No final decision has been made yet. There are concerns over his fitness and the next few weeks will be a time to assess him. Ryan Sessegnon could be a long-term replacement, he can play anywhere on the left, but Spurs also have Davies.

If the club can fish out possible interest then they have all the facts at their disposal and can make an informed decision on what to do.
