Vincent Janssen Turns Down Mexico Move

Vincent-Janssen
Spurs are struggling to shift Vincent Janssen

OK, Janssen. He is still a problem, we can't shift him.

We agreed a deal in principle with Real Betis to sell him for £6 million, but he isn't their first choice. They want to buy 26-year-old (27 next January) Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias, who has a release clause of €28m (£25.08m - $31.39m).

It, therefore, looks like that deal won't happen. Schalke, who the papers were reporting he was nearly signing for, was a loan deal only, which is not what we want. Anderlecht has also been mentioned, but do the sums add up for them now he has tripled his wages by coming to Tottenham.

He was on €10,000-a-week (£8,960 - $11.210) in Holland and he keeps turning down offers so it sounds to me like he doesn't want to lower his wages. I did hear that he went to the club to have a look around.

Description

There was interest from Club de Fútbol Monterrey in Mexico, but he doesn't want to go there. There was talk of Fenerbache and we offered him as part of a deal for midfielder Elif Elmas, but nothing came of that and we do not want the midfielder if we can not get Janssen out as part of that deal.

I also hear he doesn't want to go back to Turkey, Galatasaray was interested in taking him, but breaking his leg there seems to have turned him against playing in the country again. How true that is I don't know.

I have been told that he does actually want to leave Tottenham and play football so Anderlecht remains the favourite destination, although Standard Liege are interested and he visited them in January, as he did Anderlecht incidentally.
