Eriksen Informed Club He Won't Be Signing A New Contract

Christian-Eriksen

As I have reported many times now, Christian Eriksen is off, his head is no longer at Spurs, he has handed in a transfer request and told the club he will not be signing a new contract my sources tell me.

regular readers will know not to question that, I write that for all the new readers. If you want to know what's going on, read through a few of the THBN articles under Further Reading at the end of this article.

This last THBN article though gives a bit of a roundup:
THBN Tottenham Transfer Talk including Lo Celso, Sessegnon signing, Eriksen off soon

We have discussed one with him this window, he has been offered a deal, but he wants to play for Real Madrid and mentally he has already left.

Osvaldo Ardiles has come out and confirmed the best thing for Spurs to do is sell the Danish playmaker.

“It looks to me like he has put his mind on a move – that he wants to go somewhere else.

“And if that is the case it’s futile for the club to try and keep a player when he wants to leave.

“I won’t say he’s not happy with us, because he is, but his mind is trying to play somewhere else, and the best thing is to part company.”

Tottenham have known for a year that he wanted to leave, he told Mauricio Pochettino before the season started so Spurs had plenty of time to start talking to replacements.

I think you all know by now that Giovani Lo Celso is the chosen man and that deal is tied up barring minor details. A fee was agreed on a while back of £60.99 million + add-ons (€68m - $76.72m).

By the way, he only wants to join Tottenham and has told Real Betis that. He has also told them he will hand in a transfer request if they don't let him leave. Betis have accepted that he is leaving and are searching for his replacement.

That deal has had to wait for the Copa America of course and he'll be needing a holiday to mentally relax and recharge. He is an exciting prospect, but I believe he has a better mentality than Erik Lamela, who may have to step up to the plate with another young left-footed gifted Argentinian to challenge him.

That leaves Real Betis £30.84 million (€34.4m - $38.78m) profit after paying 20% of the profit on his sale to PSG. They can then, therefore, buy the striker they want with his £25.09 million (€28m - $31.56m) release clause.

They too are looking at Dani Ceballos as a replacement, while we are looking to include him in the Eriksen deal with an option to buy. I believe we want to make that a must buy clause so he doesn't just return to Real Madrid in a season.

If he were loaned to Real Betis or even sold there would be a buyback clause inserted so Real Madrid could call him back at the pre-agreed fee anytime within the next two summer transfer windows. That isn't an option we want to be included, it doesn't help us build for the future if we have to continually change players.

You add to a group but keep the main group together as we have been successfully doing.

I'll leave it there for now so enjoy the sunshine and sit back and enjoy the summer building at Tottenham. Sessegnon'snext (no rush as Ryan is injured), then Lo Celso.
