Transfer Talk: Giovani Lo Celso

Transfer Talk: Giovani LoCelso

Giovani-Lo-Celso

I see Alisdair Gold has changed his tune over Giovani Lo Celso and stopped, at least for now, misreporting the situation and misreporting the figures involved.

He has been incorrectly trumpeting the €100m figure, as have the BBC and the Mirror, but that was only ever a release clause, as I have consistently reported, not a transfer figure.

Right from the start the word from Spain has been that they want more than our initial offer of €35m (£31.16m - $39.68m) plus €5m (£4.45m - $5.57m) bonuses, a total of €40m (£35.58m - $45.10m) and CLOSER to €100m.

Alisdair Gold, RickSpur on Twitter, the Mirror etc were wrongly reporting our initial offer as £47.14m (€53m - $59.76m). That was the suggestion for a transfer target I have paid little attention to, Bruno Fernandes because he was never our first choice. I think Mr. Hayter will find he nailed his colours to the wrong mast when he took his guess.

t just demonstrates that journalists in the UK simply don't know what they are talking about when it comes to football and they know even less about the playing side, coaching side and mental side

He has changed his tune over the amount paid to PSG too, it is not as he and others reported 25%, but the 20% I have been reporting all along and he has now changed his story to.

To clarify, or in my case simply to repeat, Real Betis want around £66.70m (€75m - $84.60m) while an independent assessment from CIES Football Observatory has him below €60m (£53.75m - $67.40m).

You can see Real Betis want over the odds for the player so they have funds to buy a replacement after giving PSG their 20% of any profit. They would be left with €50m (£44.79m - $56.17m) to spend.
