Transfer talk: Christian Eriksen, Dani Ceballos, Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Adrien Rabiot, Giovani Lo Celso

Christian-Eriksen

A lot of you wrongly complain that Daniel Levy asks too much for players and wants to pay too little, that is common business practice and sensible, it's how every club operates. Modric, Bale, we should have just let them go cheap, should we?

Despite what fantasists say, you should not simply pay whatever a club asks, you will end up in trouble with Financial Fair Play if you do and unable to balance the books over a three-year period, which is a requirement.

And no, owners cannot use their money to pay for players or wages, that is against Financial Fair Play too, it has to be generated by the club and that means a club has to be a successful business.

Spanish newspaper AS report that Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez doesn't want to pay more than £61.63 million (€70m) for a player with just one year left on his contract, Christian Eriksen.

Daniel Levy is asking for £176.66 million (€200m).

If the ITK in Spurs Community is correct Eriksen has sold his house, so it is a question of when he leaves this summer, not if.

Now Eden Hazard has a year left on his contract too and Real Madrid needs to sell players if they are to buy their targets and rebuild. How much they pay for Hazard will influence Levy and how much we get for Eriksen, he won't want to get less so there will be a bit of both clubs waiting to see what is agreed with the other club.

Reports suggest there are 14 players who can leave Real Madrid, some will be players they will listen to offers for, some will be players they definitely want out, like Gareth Bale. His wages are a huge problem for everyone though and a solution will have to be found.

Tottenham are said to have now met with 22-year-old (23 in August) Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos to discuss the possibility of a move according to Sky Sports Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio. Clearly, he is one of the 14 who can go.

Juventus are interested in Kieran Trippier according to Di Marzio with Napoli dropping interest due to the arrival of Empoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Napoli had agreed on a potential deal worth £23.04 million (€26m) including bonuses and a wage of £2.3 million (€2.6m) net a year of a 5-year contract. That deal is dead with Giovanni Di Lorenzo undergoing a medical at Napoli.

The Juventus plan is to sell Portuguese right-back João Cancelo who apparently interests Manchester City at £53.17 million (€60m) and replace him with England international Trippier.

The Spurs right-back hasn't had a great season after excelling as a wing-back at the World Cup in Russia and as a result, has been dropped from the Nationa League squad this summer. Spurs fans are of course fickle, all he needs is some rest, which he'll now get this summer and then he'll be back to his best next season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are watching his situation and I have heard a whisper that Manchester United are making quiet inquiries.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could ignore defensive targets Kalidou Koulibaly and Harry Maguire with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Marcos Rojo all to be handed lifelines at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mirror.

Other reports say Solskjaer has not made up his mind over defensive reinforcements and that they will make a decision on Toby Alderweireld next week.

What that actually means is that none of the players want to join a Europa League side and thus United have had to reconsider the targets they can go for, just the same as Arsenal are having to.

Arsenal wants Bournemouth's Scotland winger Ryan Fraser, according to the Daily Mirror. but their hopes of bringing in Crystal Palace English Ivory Coast international inverted winger Wilfried Zaha have all but disappeared following their failure to qualify for the Champions League twice in one season.

Arsenal will not be dining at the top table when it comes to transfers and any big names linked to them by idiotic reporters can be instantly dismissed as journalists inventing stories. No top player is going to join a Europa League side unless they are paid ridiculous wages and with three seasons of Europa League football Arsenal can't afford to compete at that level now. The longer they stay out of the UEFA Champions League, the greater the financial impact it will have.

The Times are linking them with Adrien Rabiot, who is also being linked with Everton, but he has previously stated he wants a team playing Champions League football and his agent Mum sees him at a club like Bayern Munich, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Unfortunately for him, she has priced him out of a move to any of them and she will have to temper her demands if that is to be achieved.

None are prepared to match his wage demands and signing on fee demands, hence all is quiet surrounding him.

Apparently, Real Betis have also made contact with him but they just avoided relegation and haven't a hope of signing him, they certainly can't afford his wages.

The reported interest of Tottenham in Real Betis midfielder Giovan Lo Celso is genuine with the Spanish club hoping to generate a bidding war for his signature, so don't expect a quick deal.

Tottenham have made inquiries, spoken to the player's agent but reports of a bid of £53.17 million (€60m) are wide of the mark.

They stem from the misinterpretation of a Spanish article that suggested Spurs would have to pay that amount and our press has just copied that misinterpretation.
