The Latest on Giovani Lo Celso - Rival Bid

The Latest On Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani-Lo-Celso

Hello, and in Transfer Talk today Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) brings you the latest news of Giovano Lo Celso, the Argentinian attacking midfielder who was a defensive midfielder at PSG,

The news concerns another bid, but it is not a bid from Tottenham. It is a bid from fellow Champions League side Atlético Madrid.

Tottenham submitted a bid of €35m (£31.16m - $39.68m) plus €5m (£4.45m - $5.57m) bonuses, a total of €40m (£35.58m - $45.10m) which they rejected and not the £53m (€59.59m - $67.19m) being reported now thanks to a Daily Mirror article.

That was the offer for Bruno Fernandes and was euors, not pounds sterling, they hadn't bothered to convert the currency. It should have read £47.14m (€53m - $59.76m) which we have reportedly upped to their asking price.

The LaLiga runners-up (they finished 8 points above Real Madrid) have submitted a bid of €55m (£48.92m - $62.02m) which Real Betis has turned down.

The report from Mundo Deportivo confirms what I have reported earlier that the PSG clause is 20%, not the 25% that our lazy journalists are copying from each other. It is suggested that Real Betis won't accept less than £66.70m (€75m - $84.60m), again not as our press are incorrectly reporting £88.97m (€100m - $112.80m).

That is merely his release clause, not his selling price. Release clauses are just to stop players leaving cheap, they get increased with every wage increase and thus tie a player into his contract, giving the club financial control.

It is frustrating that the reporting in all our press is so bad and that journalists print rubbish so regularly.

Still, the latest is Atlético Madrid have bid more than our initial bid and that has been turned down, they are holding out for £66.70m.
