Tanguy Ndombélé  Update

Tanguy-Ndombele

Right, let's give you a Tanguy Ndombélé update as the media don't know what's going on it seems or they aren't telling you!

The 27-year-old (28 next March) defensive midfielder Thiago Mendes and 23-year-old (24 in July) left-back Youssouf Koné have reached an agreement with Lyon. Lyon and are close to finding agreement with Lille.

The purchase of the pair is expected to cost around €37m (£33.19m - $42.14m) with a percentage of any profit on resale going to Lille. This is all reported by French outlet RMCsport.

OK, why is this important to Tottenham fans? Well, because contrary to other reports, Mendes is the replacement for Tanguy Ndombele. Everyone assumed Jean Lucas, signed from Brazilian side Flamengo for €8m (£7.18m - $9.11m) was his replacement, but the money from the sale of Ndombélé to Spurs is being used to buy these two players.

The threat of suggesting no agreement has been reached for the sale of Ndombélé is simply to suggest to Lille that that deal might fall through thus their deal for Mendes and Koné will fall through.

That is important because on 30 June, all French clubs from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 must submit their accounts to National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG). They can impose sanctions, hence French clubs sell players before 30 June each summer to comply and ensure their accounts show they at least break even.

The deal with Spurs will be delayed until Lyon completed these two signings. Like I keep telling you guys and the Twitterati give disagreeing with, clubs line up replacements before they sell a player.

The people on Twitter trying to convince you otherwise don't understand football and how much goes on behind the scenes, especially over transfers and scouting.

Lille suddenly demanded €10m (£8.97m- $11.39m) more from Lyon and thus Jean-Michel Aulas (President of Lyon) suggested no deal had been agreed with Tottenham and threw in the old bid we made to suggest to Lille that income from Spurs wasn't as great as they were thinking.

It is all games with misinformation being fed to the press who lap it up and cause consternation amount our fickle fans, simply because one transfer in our lifetime went bad after a medical when two Russians colluded to help each other out and a player was obviously given a backhander and told to sign for a different club.

The Ndombele deal is going through, Jack Clarke is joining and as I have said all along, Giovani Lo Celso will join after the Copa America tournament.

In addition, the Sessegnon twins will arrive shortly, both have been to the training ground. The club has had to wait while England participated in the Under-21 European Championships which we blew in the group stages yet again. It really is important that this age group starts playing in the knockout phases regularly to develop players mentally. We seem to scar every generation.

As you know there is very little media speculation surrounding the brothers and that's because everybody knows where they are going and that is to Spurs.
