Dani Ceballos Quotes False

Dani-Ceballos

Former Real Madrid manager Julien Lopetegui, now manager of Sevilla, wants to take wantaway Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos off their hands, as does Real Betis to replace Giovani Lo Celso it is reported in Spain.

Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, West Ham, and Arsenal have all also been linked.

It is being reported that Zinidine Zidane told Dani Ceballos that he was not part of his plans next season and he wouldn't be used, to which the Spanish Under-21 international replied: "No problem boss, I don't want to work for you either."

Now I don't know whether that is true or not and I don't really care, it makes for a great story. I will say for accuracy that he has totally denied any such comment. It is basically a reporters summing up of a conversation that made him available to leave.

Are Tottenham interested in him? To be honest, I have no idea.

A newspaper article over here speculated we might be interested and as far as I can see the story has grown on it's own from there through Chinese whispers.

It was and might still be a case of putting two and two together to make a story because let's face it, we have been linked with a heap of players this window.

Have we scouted him, I'm sure we have, we keep an eye on the youngsters at Real Madrid and Barcelona and the fringe players. prising one away out of Spain is no easy matter though, both clubs insist on buyback clauses that we won't entertain. They are of no benefit to us when buying a player if they can just take him back whenever they like.

There have been no reports of Pochettino speaking to Ceballos and he speaks to everyone we want to purchase. A player signing wants to know who he is working for, how he sees his future role and how he will develop him.

None of that has appeared in the press, nor have any reports about him wanting to join Tottenham. It all smacks of reporter guesswork to me.
