Spurs Have Been Following Tielemans For Years

“I expect that I will return to Monaco in the summer unless something’s moving. At the moment there’s nothing. If things are going well you want to keep it like that. I don’t know what Monaco will be asking, so I can’t talk about it.”

Leicester City would like to keep the 22-year-old (23 next May) Belgian international (he has 21 full caps scoring 1 goal), but they don’t have an option to buy him in their loan deal. 

Monaco were asking around £40m back in January. with both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United continuing to follow his progress. We have both been watching him for years now and agents from both clubs have been in touch,

Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also been mentioned as destinations for the central midfielder.

Neither Spurs or Man United have made any concrete offers to Monaco for Tielemans, but both have sounded out a guideline transfer fee.

Speaking for Tottenham, we have been waiting until we know whether we will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season before firming up interest in players. It makes a huge difference, not just to our income, but to our appeal to players.

In addition, we need to know the future of Christian Eriksen. When you sell a player you do not always make a like for like replacement and that can affect who else you buy.
