Saracens negotiating to play all their games at Spurs

It was announced that rugby league side Saracens would play their derby against Harlequins at the new Tottenham stadium instead of the Olympic stadium or Wembley.

Premiership side Saracens have been playing their home game at Allianz Park leisure complex on the Hendon-Mill Hill borders in London NW4 since 2013. They became the first professional rugby union side to play on an entirely artificial surface. The surface cost £500,000 to build.

Tottenham and Saracens have been discussing playing all their home game at the new Tottenham stadium which would mean the artificial pitch gets regular use and we get a regular additional income.

It is another example of the club building multiple streams of income to fund the football club and allow us to compete on a more even financial footing with the richest clubs in the world. That is the aim, obviously just having rugby there wouldn't meet the current financial gap, but it will help as would an NFL franchise being located in London.

I hope it comes to fruition. It is just another example of the forward thinking and vision of Daniel Levy and the board.

I can't wait until the new stadium starts generating income and makes a difference to the wages we can pay and the transfer fees we can pay. This simply adds to the corporate opportunities and sponsorship opportunities.
