Players Being Scouted

We haven't had a transfer talk in a while, little point in the January transfer window when little happened for anyone. None of the top 3 made any signings so let's take a look at some players being scouted.

  • Dean Henderson
  • Ryan Sessegnon
  • Jack Clarke
  • Max Aarons
  • David De la Víbora
  • Carlos Soler
  • Luca Murphy
  • Nikola Kalinić

Dean Henderson is an English goalkeeper who is on loan at Sheffield United, from Manchester United being followed by Spurs, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Tottenham needs a third choice goalkeeper and it would make sense for that player to be homegrown. Goalkeepers mature later than outfield players, as we are seeing with our 27-year-old Argentinian number 2 Paulo Gazzaniga.

Henderson will be 22 in March and stands 6 ft 3 in (1.90 m) tall. The Under-21 international (he has 7 caps) represented England at U-16 (1 cap), U-17 (5 caps) and U-20 (6 caps) levels and is under contract with United until 2020.

Ryan Sessegnon is yet to sign a new contract at Fulham and now has 17 months left. Fulham look certain to go down and I can't see him wanting to go and play Championship football again. He has been dropped for the last three matches and demonstrates the silly money being talked about previously was way off the mark.

Plenty of clubs will be interested in signing him, although he hasn't set the Premier League alight in the way he did the Championship. He is only 18 though and doesn't turn 19 until May.

Jack Clarke is an 18-year-old (19 in November) right-footed left winger playing for Championship side Leeds United and at the moment they look a good bet to get promoted, as I expected at the start of the season with their shrewd managerial appointment.

Max Aarons is the 19-year-old Norwich City right-back. The England U-19 international(4 caps) is under contract until 2023 and has a good chance of winning promotion this season. Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be following him too.

David De la Víbora is a 16-year-old centre-back at Real Madrid who has only just signed his first professional contract. His signature surely means he'll be going nowhere this summer unless it is on loan and that won't be to Spurs.

Carlos Soler is a 22-year-old right-sided midfielder playing for LaLiga side Valencia. The Spanish U-21 international (14 caps, 2 goals) can also play centrally or as an attacking midfielder. He is currently under contract until2021.

Luca Murphy is a 17-year-old (18 in September) centre-back playing for Hartlepool, who are in League Two. Murphy is English and plays for their U-19 side. The Hartlepool United website says he is comfortable on the ball and able to play with either foot. He is athletic, confident and rarely fazed.

Nikola Kalinić is a reserve striker at Spanish side Atlético Madrid. They have signed Alvaro Morata and are looking to offload Kalinić in the summer.

Spurs could re-sign Fernando Llorente or look at an alternative if the Spaniard leaves, as his contract expires with us in the summer. Kalinić is a Croatian international (42 caps) who has netted 15 goals for his country and is under contract at Atlético until 2021.
