Spurs Transfer Stories: De Paul, Frankie de Jong, Malcom
Italian media this time and they say Tottenham have made an approach to 24-year-old (25 in May) right-footed left winger Rodrigo De Paul.
He is an Argentinian with an Italian passport who plays in Italy for Udinese. The suggestion is that he has been offered a loan deal until the end of the season and the option of a permanent deal then.
He is under contract until 2023 and this season has played in 19 games, scoring 6 goals with a further 3 assists.
Ajax midfielder Frankie de Jong will be joining either PSG, who are the favourites, or Barcelona in the summer. He will be making his decision this window so we can cross him off our wish lists.
Tottenham have not made an offer to Barcelona for Malcom, who they wish to sell either now or in the summer. Any loan deal now they want a guaranteed purchase clause in the summer.
The news I have is that Spurs are not interested in him now. Barcelona paid too much for him and want to recoup most of that money and get his wages off the bill. Financial Fair Play is still an issue and they want to bring in Adrien Rabiot.
The difficulty for Spurs is that now his wages are too high and he would have to take a big hit, players don't like doing that. He is another we can cross off our wish list.

Malcom going to Barca first has upped the ante and, even though he's frankly failed there, he no longer sees where he was before as his realistic level.
To assume that we should go for others instead seems to make sense to some people. It seems daft to me. Far, far more than money gets invested in these young players. The time and energy and integrating them into our squad and team are not things to be taken lightly. Sometimes they can even disrupt the balance of the team's mentality. Players who have a more negative mentality, be they ever so brilliant, are not worth the damage they can cause.
I'm confident that we can, as a club, progress significantly with our current management team if they continue to be very selective about whom they bring in, and I'm sure they will continue to be just that.
COYS!!
It's been tough recently, with a rate of injuries that no-one could have predicted hitting us so terribly hard, but we are progressing on that score and that will stand us in good stead in the future I expect.
