Players are just fans on transfer deadline day

TOTTENHAM TALK

You might think players know what is happening at a club but often they are just as much in the dark about transfer activity as the fans. It seems the players want news on transfer deadline day too.

Harry Kane talked about it before the actual day, saying he was sure Daniel levy would do some business and do well for Spurs and so it proved. On the day the players were texting our manager, Mauricio Pochettino himself has revealed. They were excited about the news we were trying to sign former Spanish international striker Fernando Llorente from Swansea City.

It is great that Pochettino was a player himself and that he can laugh and jok with players about the times they played in opposition. He reminded Llorente that he didn't score against him when they played and of course he has already told TV pundit Michael Owen that he never touched him for that foul.

It all helps to have a great rapport with players, fans and the press, who he certainly seems to handle very well.

If the players are excited to have Llorente at the club then so should the fans, some of whom are underwhelmed for some reason.
