Spanish UNder-19 midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop has signed a 5-year deal with French Lique 1 side Olympique Lyonnais for a reported initial £9.26 million (€10m - AUS$15.01m - US$11.96m) fee. The full fee including add-ons is reported to be £12.97 million (€14m - AUS$21.02m - US$16.75m) by the French side.

He was linked with Tottenham but the French side can offer the, now former, Celta Vigo player a regular starting berth, something all players wanting to play at next summer's World Cup and seeking. He would be an outside bet for the full Spanish squad, but all he can do is play football and perform, sitting on a bench at Tottenham wouldn't help his cause.

With Serge Aurier still waiting on a work permit and Ross Barkley now reported to be injured until at least December, time is getting short and Daniel Levy may well have to be busy on transfer deadline day. Should the work permit agreement not be received then an alternative right-back will have to be bought

It might be though, that that is all the incoming activity we see. Our strong starting XI is undoubtedly causing us issues t isn't easy to overcome.

It appears that several of our 2nd/3rd choice options have gone elsewhere in recent days, which i would assume (because i trust Poch/Levy) means that our 1st choice targets are all but confirmed. Of course years of being a Spurs fan should make me view things less optimistically but i honestly don't see the panic tbh A right back is fairly essential,but other than that all i really want is for Rose and Lamela to return to first team duty asap and i think we'll be absolutely fine.
  2. I would prefer another striker as Jansen tries hard but so far all he has shown is that he is not cl quality. I feel our failure to secure more attacking options will be our downfall this season.
    • I agree about Jansen, too slow for me (and in a team not blessed with rapid pace that certainly isn't a plus !). Having said that, i think Son is overlooked too often when Spurs fans say we've only one striker - Son scores goals as his record last season shows. When you pay Spurs wages & don't have trophies to attract players, it's very hard to convince a player we'd all deem 'good' to sit on the bench behind Kane with little compensation or upside,hence you get a Jansen type player. Desperate to see Lamela return - him , Son, Dele, Kane and Eriksen with Rose & a.n.other speedy full back will be a very decent attacking force, i've no worries about that.

    This is very true. After a few more seasons of relative success I suspect players will be happier to come as part of a squad, as they are more at the bigger teams. Until then we have to keep on keeping on. Frankly, if our last two seasons are anything to go by, we're looking at continued building and improvement.
