Misunderstood Levy is refusing offers for Spurs players

Levy signing "happy clappy" Pochettino!

Darren Anderson has told Sporting Bet that it was down to Daniel Levy that Eric Dier hasn't left Spurs this summer. Only Kyle Walker has left and he was on a list Mauricio Pochettino gave Levy of players we could accept offers for.

it isn't an issue that he was sold to Manchester City as they could have gone and bought an even better right-back but needed him to help their home grown quota. As a result we were able to demand at least £20 million (€21.67m - AUS$32.47m - US$25.57m) more than he would otherwise have been worth.

Often wrongly criticised, Levy has refused to sell players this summer, despite many a fan wrongly thinking that if someone offers decent money he'll sell. That, quite frankly, displays a huge lack of understanding of the changing situations a football club find themselves in when building a club up through the revenue it generates.

"Eric could have quite easily gone to United this year, but Levy made sure that didn’t happen, but he'll want to play.

"He won't kick up a fuss, but if he can go and be a regular in another team you couldn't blame him for leaving – no matter how much he loves the club."

You won't find these people praising Levy though as it doesn't fit with their agenda. He has guided this club from a broke mid-table side, regularly finishing around 11th to a club who have challenged for the title for the last two seasons.

We don't yet have the financial resources of the other top clubs and continue that building process, a process that must not be put in jeopardy. put simply, he is the best chairman we have had since the 60's.

The club has a greater future now, than when he took over, so much so, that fans expectation has risen.

  1. Very well put. I think part of the problem is that the period where we were finishing mid table was seen, by a number of fans, as a "blip" rather than the true reflection of our league status that it was. Yes, Levy can be irritating, but under Levy we have improved from mid table to flirting with the top 5, being top 5, being champions league and now genuine contenders. In Levy, we have a genuine fan of the club. We also have world class training facilities, world class stadium on the horizon, good youth policy, a coach with appeal to players, a shrewd chairman with an eye for an opportunity (NFL deal, naming rights etc....), increased revenue from next season... whatever happens this season, the future is bright.
    • I couldn't agree more , I have been a fan since the age of 7 ? let me calculate? thats 39 years and this is the best period (stability wise) that I can remember .
      Yeah we have had good times , but mostly we have been inconsistent and run very badly ,until ENIC took over and Lewis put Levy incharge , and in my eyes , long may it continue . If as stated , new training fac, new stadium , good to great youth setup , and a very driven no nonsense manager(YOUNG) .
      I am really excited about our future now , and will try and get to as many games as pos, as I had lost heart before the Poch error , I mean we had 1 gooner as manager before , but to do it again ? I truly hope it don't happen again , as they say the 3rd times the charm , but in this case it would probably be a curse ......................COYS............................

  3. We understand that the issue we have is with the miss management of transfers. Every Spurs fan for the past 6 years can see the need for an additional striker and with Jansen potentially moving on it will become even greater yet we spend the money on Sissoko etc wasted resource. Turning the club into a power house off the pitch is admiral and the fact that we are almost there is even more frustrating. Take the tiny step Mr Levy and watch opinions change!! FYI my choice of a young very talented striker to compete with Kane Josh King the boy has it all!!! #COYS
    • To turn the club into a powerhouse on the pitch, you first have to turn it into a powerhouse off the pitch, that is the whole point.
  4. Can't ever recall any chairman knocking on my door promising anything if I chose to support Spurs? In the world of football manager and a press that's sole aim is to create headlines to sell papers,it's no wonder the impression some have in regards to DL.However a little clear thinking should draw the average fan to the plain truth that our chairman has never been either a skinflint or a sinister Bloefeldt type,merely a genius whos worked nothing short of a miracle given where we are now to where we were then!

  10. I saw eleven comments had been posted and I confidently felt I'd be wading through the usual anti-Levy tripe again.

    I was so heartened to see so many of my brother Spurs supporters clearly understand what's going on before their eyes.

    As for the lone dissenting voice :
    I admit to being a Levy fan; I admit to being an ice-cream fan; I admit to being a fan of world peace and any attempts to bring that forth; I admit to refraining from sticking my head in the sand and moaning about everything without even realising that the club is making huge strides forward at this time, now.

    I expect there are people that would argue with all of those but I doubt there are many of those whose intelligence I'd have any respect for.

  11. Totally agree, Levy is a miracle worker. Can't stand the old whinge-at-everything-Spurs-fans. They'll find something to complain about if we beat Real Madrid and win the league this season. Look at the other non-billionaire clubs and how they're doing. Not sure who these people would replace Levy with, Mike Ashley?
