Wimmer to return to Germany in January?

TRANSFER TALK

With the success of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, Kevin Wimmer has hardly got a look in. He stood in for Jan Vertonghen when he was injured last season and did very well but he is left footed so when Alderweireld was injured Pochettino wanted a right-footer to replace him and that task went to Eric Dier.

Against Arsenal in the North London Derby recently Pochettino switched to a back three and Wimmer had a good game as one of them. His future at Tottenham, though is uncertain as he wants to play more than he is.

German paper Sport Bild report that Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in him and want to bring him back to Germany in January. Whether Pochettino would be prepared to let him go in January is another matter as a left-footed replacement would have to be found. Ben Davies can't really cover the role if he is rotating with Danny Rose at left back.
