HT - CSKA U-18 0 SPURS U-18 1

Before the main event Tottenham youngsters take on CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Youth League. We lost our first game in the UEFA Youth League where our Under-18's play the same teams the seniors play in the UEFA Champions League.

This allows them to travel with the first team and experience games that matter against foreign opponents and experience the whole travelling experience, new cultures, new destinations, ne players, new pitches, new styles of football. It is excellent for their progress and to help us build the conveyor belt of talent we want.

The start of the game was a scrappy affair and their were some robust challenges from the Russians who were diving into tackles and being physical at times. The youngest player on the field, Marcus Edwards, was involved after 24 minutes when a nice piece of dribbling then saw him play a ball through to Poles but his shot went wide.

On 37 minutes Zhamaletdinov hit the top of the bar for CSKA before Tottenham took a lead on 38 minutes when another dribble from Edwards ended with being fouled but Griffiths was on hand to take the ball on and fire it into the top corner.

CSKA look poised to hit immediately back on 40 minutes but two great blocks allowed the youngsters to go into the break in front.
