Video: Vincent Janssen vs Everton

PLAYER PERFORMANCE

I'll be bringing you individual player performance videos this season and we kick off with Vincent Janssen, followed by Dele Alli in the next article.

It is easy to rely on memory when a player has a good or bad game, but individual player videos versus opponents allow us to check and confirm o alter our views. It allows the chance to look at movement off the ball and the various options a player may have, it allows the chance to see whether the pass into him was good enough.

Vincent Janssen made his competitive debut for Spurs when he came on after 63 minutes and provided the energy we were missing up front.

Several of the players were coming back after the European Championships and looked laboured, as if they haven't had enough pre-season training, which they haven't of course.

Janssen had good movement and close control, his first touch took him away from opponents when he needed to, such as when he took the ball turned and played a ball back across the box to the edge of the area for Dele Alli, who blasted high and wide.
