Video: Plenty of positives for Pochettino

SPURS 1 CRYSTAL PALACE 0

A win against a team we find difficult to break down, as Mauricio Pochetino admitted in his post-match interview, which you can watch in the video blow.

he spoke about how well Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama have settled at Spurs, so much so that they look like they have been here for years. He felt Wanyama scoring was good for the fans to bond with him and feels that both players can feel the love of the Spurs faithful.

While Wanyama has experience of the Premier League, Janssen doesn't, he is stepping up a level of football. His performances do show though that if you approach things with the right frame of mind and remain positive you do not have to have a season to adjust, you should be able to make your mark. He doesn't look out of place at this level and he will just need a goal now to settle him, as will Harry Kane of course.

last week Janssen came on against Everton, caught the eye and got a starting berth this week. That is exactly what players and youngsters need to do. Dele Alli came on and immediately played a first-time ball to create a golden chance for Janssen that he should have scored.

Josh Onomah is developing physically as well as a player and he didn't look out of place or lightweight either. There was a nice piece of defensive work down near the right-hand corner flag. Moments like that build the confidence. It doesn't have to be a flashy piece of skill that catches the eye or a telling pass, it can be a defensive contribution or simply helping to keep the flow of the team moving.

A youngster coming on and not visibly weakening the side is a plus as all eyes are on them, the pressure is on them. They have to learn to handle that pressure, the crowds expectation, let alone what the manager wants and what they feel themselves. It si a big ask and Onomah doesn't seem fazed by the challenge.
