TRANSFER TALK

Ball future dependant upon Carroll and Bentaleb sales

Dominic Ball is in demand after his season on loan at Rangers and his pre-season trip to Australia for the 2016 International Champions Cup in Melbourne. Mark Warbuton wants to take him back to rangers, we know that, but has suggested the situation is not straight forward. If it were he would have signed him already.

Southend United have made enquiries but he is hardly likely to play in League One and Leeds United have enquired about taking him on loan for the season in the Championship. That would make more sense.

Mauricio Pochettino wanted to have a look at him in training and pre-season friendlies before deciding the best method of developing him this season. He could stay with Spurs but it seems more likely he will have another loan spell to get regular first team football into him.

It is not that simple though, as Tottenham have Nabil Bentaleb for sale and if the right money is offered for Tom Carroll then he can go too. That would mean there could be a place in the squad for Ball to fulfil the role Tom Carroll has been fulfilling, plus he is a home-grown player, like Carroll. We can only have 17 non-home grown players over 21 named in our Premier League squad. We can not simply go out and buy foreign talent.

I suspect Dominic Ball will not be going anywhere until the transfer window shuts. his future will depend on who we sell. Then, after the summer transfer window has shut, the loan window opens. If he goes on loan, he may well have to wait until then.
