TRANSFER TALK

Another player Tottenham have been heavily linked with and made efforts to sign in the past is on the move. It is no surprise that a young German is staying in Germany. Bundesliga newcomers RB Leipzig have spent £7.96-million (EUR10m - AUS$15.24m - US$11.29m), his release clause, on Timo Werner.
The 20-year-old will receive a four-year contract with the newly promoted side after undergoing his medical. It is a record purchase for RB Leipzig. This, I would expect, means that Breel Embolo will not be joining Leipzig despite reaching an agreement on terms.
I'm sure there will be many fans saying we should have paid to bring him to Spurs, but it seems pretty clear to me that he didn't want to leave Germany and the Bundesliga just yet. He has gone to a club where he will be guaranteed first-team football it seems, rather than doing as some fans wrongly believe every player does and simply follow the highest wage packet. Such a simplistic outlook does them no favours.
