Spurs watch attacking midfielder with summer release clause

While fans were basking in the glory of seeing another three points secured the club had sent a scout to watch a potential midfield target we have been keeping an eye on in Germany. The man in question is 23-year-old (24 in February) Turkish international Yunis Malli who plays for FSV Mainz 05.
We were linked with the attacking midfielder during the winter transfer window when it looked as if he was going to join Borussia Dortmund, only for that deal to fall through. We have been regulars at his games and our scout went to Hannover where he saw Malli play 68 minutes in the central attacking role in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
He's technically gifted, a very good dribbler and a goal threat. He creates for himself and others, in 2015 he scored 14 goals. Malli has a contract until 2018 but is believed to have a release clause, according to reporter Jochen Tittmar of Spox.com (link in German), that can be activated in the summer.
