Newcastle won't pay over £10m for Townsend
2 min read
There is plenty of talk surrounding Andros Townsend at the moment with clubs hoping to get him on loan which Tottenham are not interested in. The England international needs to be playing to stand any chance of making the 2015 European Championships and he isn' going to get any game time at Tottenham.
He, therefore, wants a loan move but Tottenham only want a sale as his value will have decreased in the summer as he enters the last year of his contract. He has reportedly turned down a move to WBA and Tottenham have reportedly turned down a £10-million bid from Watford. Other interested parties include Sunderland, who the press tried to tell us he was about to sign for and a host of midtable and lower table sides.
Sky are reporting that he favours a move to Newcastle United but Newcastle only wanted to take him on loan after they heard our price. The Geordie side are not interested in even paying £10-million (US$14.36m - AUS$20.57m - €13.27m) though. If I'm honest he is only worth about £8-million (US$11.49m - AUS$16.45m - €10.61m) now. We of course want £14-million (US$20.33m - AUS$29.25m - €18.69m).
The Chronicle Live were reporting that Newcastle had dropped their interest and looking at alternatives. It has all the makings of going down to the wire with offers made on the last day.
