Loan deal turned down

Tottenham have turned down an offer from Sevilla for 28-year-old Federico Fazio after the transfer window opened in Spain opened yesterday. Sevilla wanted to loan Fazio with a permanent deal only id certain conditions were met.

As explained previously Tottenham are not interested in loan deals unless there is a guaranteed purchase at the end of the loan for a set fee, rather than only if certain conditions are met. Sevilla have made it plain they are interested in buying him back which demonstrates all the garbage written about clubs refusing to do business is just that, garbage.

The offer was just the opening salvo and the clubs will hold discussions to see if a deal can be reached. Tottenham will want to claw back as much of the original purchase fee as possible. Under Pochettino Tottenham have shown a willingness to offload unwanted players which would suggest a deal may well be able to be reached.
