Honduran winger missed training camp amid transfer rumours
2 min read
The Times report that Tottenham Hotspur, Fiorentina and Arsenal are set to battle it out for 22-year-old (23 in March) Honduran midfielder Andy Najar. He is currently playing at Anderlecht and Tottenham scout heavily in the Belgian Pro League.
The MLS Rookie of the Year in 2010 when at DC United has good dribbling skills, an energetic on-field presence and was the subject of a £3.68-million (US$5.38m - AUS$7.63m - €5m) bid from the Italians.
The European leagues take a mid-winter break and Anderlecht have gone to La Manga in Spain for a training camp but Najar has not travelled with them with the club suggesting an unnamed injury. He did suffer a bruised knee in December so it may be that which has kept him away.
His agent, Chris Megaloudis refused to be drawn on the future of his client.
"Andy is spending the break with his wife. There are always rumours about him, but out of respect for the club and the player, I'd rather not comment."
