Another Kane goal will lift a bit more pressure

Surprisingly some fans lost faith in Harry Kane when every striker has spells where they don't score, but quality will always come to the fore. Kane played for England Under-21 in the European Championships during the summer when he needed a rest.

For young players it is mentally wearing playing constantly, the mind and body needs it's breaks to cope otherwise you do your best, but your performance it is below your standard, thus you struggle. You saw against Monaco his control just wasn't there, the ball was getting away from him, he isn't mentally sharp yet.

While he isn't in form, it isn't a form thing, his goals for England showed he hasn't lost his goalscoring ability. Resting him during the week and relying on others will give his body and mind the break it needs, he shouldn't play another group game in the UEFA Europa League this season.

"I regard forwards having a spell of games where they do not score as a very obvious part of football. In my time in the game I have never known a player who has just scored and scored and scored and I have never known a keeper who did not let simple goals in - it happens.
"It is all about the quality of the player and sometimes you have to trust and believe that your choice of player is right, as I do in Harry. One thing for sure is that I do not think Harry is playing badly at all this season and I was very pleased to see him score against Manchester City.
"I noticed my reaction was picked up on TV and it surprised me as I usually watch games stony-faced, but I was so happy for him I could not help smiling. The bottom line is you do not become a good or bad player in three or four weeks."

When you don't score it does affect even the most confident of players to some extent so the goal last week will have taken some of the pressure off him. We have to remember he has not experienced this before, he is the main goalscorer, he is only into his second season, teams have analysed him. Mentally he has to deal with all that and still perform.

He isn't playing badly, but neither is he in top form, a few more goals may change that so here is hoping for another today.
