Pochettino believes motivation is the breeding ground of success
2 min read
The pre-game interview with Mauricio Pochettino by Spurs TV on the Official Spurs Website was fascinating, reminding us again about the mental side of the game.
Athletes in all top level sport visualise. take the Rugby World Cup going on at the moment over here and watch when the kicker takes a conversion or a penalty. They prepare and then go into their mental routine and you can see with Owen Farrell how he visualises the trajectory of the kick several times before he actually strikes the ball.
Not only do they visualise though, they feel as well. Human being are emotional creatures, football is an emotional game, being able to harness that emotion and use it to your advantage is just another aspect to creating the best sportsman and give the club the best chance of success.
When Tottenham lost the League Cup Final, Mauricio Pochettino brought the player out to watch Chelsea lift the trophy not to enjoy the occasion, but to 'feel' the emotion of defeat. he wanted them to see the joy, the jubilation and want it, he wanted them to feel the despair of defeat so that the players will want to get to another final. Next time they will want to taste victory even more, they will be reminded and made to feel the emotions of defeat again to use them to motivate and inspire victory.
It's educating the mind and harnessing emotion to create an individual and team environment of success, a determination that it will not happen again. The head controls the body, the head controls the feet, the head controls the vision, the head controls the decision making, control the head and you control the game.
Mumbo jumbo, Mauricio Pochrttino and Tottenham Hotspur don't think so, nor does any successful sportsman.

Contradicting yourself again are we?
#Obsessed
I am a Manager in a large company having worked my way up from ground level via 3 promotions in 6 years, i own my own house provide for my wife n kids and have money in the bank. And am under 30years old
I know what it takes to succeed from poor begginings no silver spoons here.
So what makes you assume im not familiar with success?
Difference is ive delivered in my life and what i set out to do, it comes from a burning desire to push yourself to be the best you can be.
Relating this to Spurs do we really show hunger desire for anything? Do we deliver?
Clive's still here and, with a few exceptions, even his earlier posts and comments show how bang-on he was even then.
COYS!!
