Carroll, Alli, Lamela, Son, Rose, Trippier

Spurs were sloppy again and again against Qarabag giving them plenty of opportunities that better teams would have taken. For some of the youngsters games like this are a learning curve, Harry Winks will take things from his time on the field, but Tom Carroll needs to learn lessons from it or his career isn't going to go anywhere.
Last season and during the summer I wrote about how Carroll telegraphed his passes with his body shape, he always had to look good playing the pass when the actual pass is the important element. Professional learn to read body shape and too many of his passes were being picked off. You don't see the passes of Mason being picked off like that as he plays them at a quicker pace. A weak pass backwards from inside the Qarabag half put them on the attack and we were lucky not to go behind. There were good points, he was tackling, getting his body between man and ball and playing some decent passes, but there is still plenty for him to work on. I have my doubts whether he will make the grade, he doesn't look as though he can be a top-four player at the moment.
Dele Alli has come to the club and just marched ahead of him, h is showing he belongs in the shirt, by that I mean he is a high-quality player in the making. He is already worth his place and yet is at the start of his career. He has the confidence and composure on the ball, despite missing his one on one. He didn't let it affect him and produced a brilliant turn to take a defender out of the game before laying on the second goal for Son.
Those moaning about signing Son Heung-min were looking foolish with two goals in quick succession, why do people say a player isn't good enough when they have never seen them? He isn't a household name in their limited household so he can't be good enough, stupid logic quite frankly.
Erik Lamela did some good. but plenty of bad, a sitter he didn't even manage to control the ball for. It is at those time we have to be clinical, he has to be clinical. We have missed at least 6 one-on-ones so far this season and scored 1. He eventually scored having missed two and getting himself offside for a third. A goal seemed to be a relief to him so the hope is he feels a little weight off his shoulders.
He must be feeling pressure knowing he has to up his game and has to produce. When he has the space to play he can play, plenty to work on, but plenty of good passes as well. Toby Alderweireld had a word with him when the defence was under pressure because he wasn't dropping back to give them a pass out of defence, suggesting he switches off at times. To put him in perspective, Dele Alli already looks a better player, despite Lamela probably having more skill.
Danny Rose looked rusty and needs to get match fit, something he'll only do when he plays more, he'll be rested at the weekend I would expect and play against Arsenal in the League Cup. He isn't ready for a start in the Premier League on that performance, th boot in on the other foot at the moment this season with Davies having upped his game.
Kieran Trippier likewise needs games now as clearly Walker is rightly the first choice. After giving away a penalty, he was solid enough without being spectacular. He didn't seem to let it affect him and now he has the first game under his belt van kick on, mind you his next game is Arsenal so he will have to.
A win, three points, plusses and minuses, plenty to take from the game and plenty to work on.
