Bring me Sunshine Pochettino said

The £22-million fee paid for Son Heung-min is a world record for an Asian player, quite a transformation you could say from the 16-year-old who dropped out of Dongbuk High School in Seoul to pursue a footballing apprenticeship in the Bundesliga.

He had a dream, he followed it, that takes a strength of mind, a desire, a commitment, a motivation to work at improving every day, all aspects of a winning mentality. It is those traits that have taken him o his journey that has now brought him to Spurs and if he keeps producing the level of performance we saw against Crystal Palace then we have a find both on and off the field.

As you know I advocate becoming world class at assessing a player mentally we are considering buying so we don't end up with more Adebayor types. Having been told he won't be getting a squad number he was turning up for training each day in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe or his Mercedes G Wagon and aggravating everyone by telling them how good his cushy life was.

He brought an anti-Spurs negativity environment that fed an anti-Adebayor air and was not healthy for the club or it's young players. Aaron Lennon, on the other hand, didn't feel it was beneath him and passed on what he could, taking a full part in training designed to improve youngsters.

It  doesn't take a genius to work out that a negative environment doesn't help our players develop and that one way or another Adebayor had to go. Son Heung-min, who has an infectious happiness, brings quite the opposite, an air of positivity and an ethic for working hard to improve. No surprise the players call him Sonny. I can hear the fanous Morecambe and Wise tune playing.

Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,

Bring me Laughter, all the while,

In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow,

Make me happy, through the years,

Never bring me, any tears,

Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

Bring me Sunshine, in your eyes,

Bring me rainbows, from the skies,

Life's too short to be spent having anything but fun,
We can be so content, if we gather little sunbeams,

Be light-hearted, all day long,

Keep me singing, happy songs,

Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

He isn't the first to have arrived with those ethics, some think they have made it and stagnate, others push on, his background suggests he may be in the latter category, not for him a season to adjust, a season of excuses. Seven simple words yet they suggest he is exactly the type of player I have been crying out for us to sign, talent plus a winning mentality.
"What the coach says, I will do."
