Adebayor wanted by 6th place side

Antalyaspor President Gültekin Gencer is to target former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor as the man to spearhead a league title assault.

His additional targets to join Samuel Eto'o are 34-year-old Ivorian defender Kolo Toure, currently at Liverpool and 32-year-old  Argentinian attacking midfielder Matias Delgado, currently with Basel in the Swiss Super League. Delgado, a former Besiktas player, the president says can't wait to join the club.

Antalyaspor were only promoted last season to the top flight and 34-year-old Eto'o has already scored five goals to help them secure nine points from the first five games. That sees them sitting in sixth place in an eighteen team league table.

There are suggestions that Adebayor will be moving to Aston Villa in January, in the meantime he has asked to train with Watford, who have his former teammate Etienne Capoue playing for them. Watford, however, refused him permission to train with them so he will have to look elsewhere to try to maintain his fitness.

The settlement deal with Tottenham means that Adebayor, who has had to sign a confidentiality agreement, will receive staged payments rather than a lump sum payoff.
