Moses would be uninspiring

There are stories circulating that after the signing of Pedro  that Chelsea want to free up squad space and are now prepared to sell 24-year-old (25 in December) Victor Moses for £6-million (€8.34m). Apart from ourselves Aston Villa are also said to be interested. Two top clubs (Chelsea and Liverpool) have tried the Nigerian but he hasn't been able to deliver, can Pochettino eke out of him what other can't is the question.

For Liverpool he scored 1 Premier League goal in 19 appearances, for Stoke City last season he scored 3 league goals in 19 appearances, for Chelsea he has scored 1 in 23 appearances, for Wigan it was 8 in 74. In all in the Premier League he has scored 13 goals in 135 appearances since 2009/10.

The Telegraph tell us Moses is wanted by Tottenham while the Express tell us Chelsea want to offload Moses to Tottenham. Both stories are the same but from a different angle, one suggests Chelsea want offer the other that Chelsea are almost in discussions with Spurs to sell him. It depends which a fan read as to their view, depending of course whether they just take in what they read or read it with a more understanding eye.

On the face of what he has done thus far it would not be an inspiring signing and therein lies the problem for many a Spurs fan. Plenty want a name simply to make them feel better assuming that that means they are guaranteed to produce the goods for us, when they don't the call goes up to sell and buy another while at the same time calling for stability and a change of manager while dismissing Levy and increasing our revenue.

Vulcans wouldn't be able to get their heads round illogical Spurs fans.

I back the club and the head coach but I can't see this signing helping us in the area we need help, namely a goal threat from the right side. We have to gamble on improving players, we can't pay the wages for top players, but Moses is not a player I see as developing into a top talent, the criteria we have been using when looking at young players.

I'll back him if we sign him but you have to ask why he hasn't developed? Regular readers will know the probable answer to that. Would he be any different to Andros Townsend, if not why bother changing unless we have decided Townsend is going to stay in a rut.
