Extensive talks with Illarramendi

Real Sociedad are in talks with Real l Madrid to re-sign Asier Illarramendi and fight off the attentions of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Inter Milan, Athletic Bilbao and others.
The suggestion from Spain is that they are offering him the same terms as Premier League clubs which seems unlikely given the financial situation in Spain and at Real Sociedad.
Tottenham have held extensive talks with 25-year-old (26 next March) Illarramendi in an attempt to lure him to White Hart Lane, whether that comes to fruition or not we will have to wait and see, but not for long there are only 8 days left until the transfer window closes. The Spanish naturally make Real Sociedad favourites while the Italians say Juventus are taking a very keen interest in him to rival Liverpool.
There are also suggestions Sociedad will sell players to fund the move but there are also denials that the players mentioned are going anywhere so nothing is clear as the window winds down. All the messages coming out the club this summer is that the defensive midfield position will be sorted late and that is proving to be the case. It's not because we don't want to sign players but simply they want to wait for other options and will turn to us if they don't get a more suitable move for themselves.
Does a club ignore those players, who are generally the better players and the players we want or do they wait. It's a dilemma, for the standard of player we want for the position we have decided to wait. The players know we are interested and our alternative options will also know the situation.
If you look at who we have targeted apart from Illarramendi it's clear we are seeking quality in that area of the park, a player who can take charge and help the youngsters we have in the team. The last couple of players we have been linked to are at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, we have targeted a World Cup winner, a player sold for £29.52-million (€40m), a player dubbed the next Essien, another dubbed the next Makélélé.
Whoever we do sign he needs to have quality and he needs to have some experience which a player can have at 25 playing abroad, for me I'd rather see a player like Illarramendi signed than say a Wanyama or McCarthy, who being hone grown will be massively over priced.
