Stadium to incorporate rooftop 'Sky Walk'
3 min read
Running through the design and plans the thought of a rooftop 'Sky Walk' with magnificent views across London is just one element that makes the new stadium development stand out from the crowd.
The club and designers have really gone to town to maximise the usage of the stadium and create something that is much more than just an empty stadium most of the week.
The stadium project really does try to regenerate an area and bring new people into the borough. The tallest indoor climbing wall in the world is bound to attract and prove popular with climbers bringing people into the area who may have no interest in foorball.
Bringing NFL football to the borough will bring in tourism and create growth so th initial two games could have a significant longterm local impact. The stadium is the catalyst for regeration, without the stadium being built it is highly unlikely that money would have been found for regeration projects with needs in other London areas.

Key elements of the overall scheme are:
- Visually dramatic new stadium design to create a landmark building for not just Tottenham but London as a whole.
- Stadium focussed towards the ‘Home End’ with improved sightlines for all spectators and the use of modern technology from the outset to be integral to the design maximising the fan experience.
- Increased capacity from 56,250 to 61,000 seats and featuring the largest single-tier stand in the UK, 17,000 seats.
- Spectators closer to the pitch than at any other comparable size stadium in the UK creating an unrivalled spectator experience.
- Dedicated NFL facilities to include a fully retractable football pitch revealing an artificial playing surface underneath that is compliant to NFL standards
- The artificial surface will be capable of hosting a range of other events whilst protecting the integrity of the playing surface.
- Architecturally a stunning new terrace on the High Road to host ‘The Tottenham Experience’ including a permanent Visitors Centre and Arrivals Hub with an interactive Museum to celebrate Club history and local heritage, a Cinema, the Club Megastore, Ticket Office and Café.
- A permanent viable use for the Grade II listed Warmington House – incorporated as part of The Tottenham Experience to house the new Museum, blending old architecture with new.
- Improved crowd management arrangements along the High Road with a wider pavement. Three buildings removed that currently create a pinch point where, because the pavement is only two metres wide, forces people to walk in the bus lane or road.
- Public open space that is comparable in size to Trafalgar Square. To include a multi-use games area, high-quality landscaping, cafes and the ability to walk uninterrupted all the way round the stadium. Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to manage dedicated events and community programmes.
- A 180 bedroom hotel with a dedicated training programme for the hospitality industry to provide high-quality accommodation in Tottenham and create new career opportunities for local residents. There will be 49 serviced apartments occupying the upper floors.
- A fantastic new building to host Extreme Sports that will bring people to Tottenham on a daily basis with activities for all ages, including the tallest indoor climbing wall in the world.
- A spectacular ‘Sky Walk’ – an adrenaline-filled experience and attraction for all ages walking on top of the stadium with spectacular views across London.
- Increased new homes 579 up from 285, including affordable housing that meets the key need for more homes in London. Set out across four new residential buildings, every apartment will enjoy access to a private balcony in addition to communal gardens and child play areas.
- A new community health centre to serve existing and new residents to the area, improving access to GPs and health screening.
