Spurs £4.26m bid turned down

The Turkish media are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have made a £4.26 million (US$6.62m - AUS$8.94m - €9.83m).



Turkish newspaper Radikal report that Fenerbahçe, who will soon have Robin van Persie playing up front for them, turned down our bid for Mehmet Topal. Valencia has also tried to sign the Turkish international but coach Vitor Pereira wants to keep his man.

Agent Batur Altıparmak has reassured Fenerbahçe fans that his client is likely to remain at the club this season.

Fenerbahçe Chairman Aziz Yildirim told journalists that Topal is expected to be a member of the first team and starts counter attacking play, his importance to the side is clear.

"Mehmet Topal will start counter play on this team. The Technical director also thinks he will be in his first eleven."
