Veljković extends Spurs contract

For those of you who like to pour through these things here are 2 lists produced by the Premier League for all clubs.

First is the PREMIER LEAGUE FREE TRANSFER LIST 2014/15

Second the PREMIER LEAGUE PROFESSIONAL RETAINED LIST 2014/15

Also here is a link to the webpage for the retained and released lists submitted by Premier League clubs

Serbian centre-back Miloš Veljković, currently helping his country advance in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, Wales also bid to host the event. Tottenham have released their retained players list and the highly rated centre-back is on the list as having had his contract extended. He should start making cameo appearances next season.

I would be expecting to see the 19-year-old, he turns 20 in September, be included in our UEFA Europa League squads, especially when Spurs travel away, to allow the Premier League first choice centre-back pairing stay at home. Travelling is not only exhausting but prevents a team from training. It's an ideal time to give youngsters more experience by putting them in strange situations and seeing how they react.

Serbia topped their group at the Under-20 World Cup which included Uruguay, Mali and Mexico. They then put out Hungary in the last 16 after extra-time and now play USA in the quarter-finals on 14 June. Cameron Carter-Vickers is in the USA squad and they call him as a beast in defence, he has been retained by Spurs as well.

These tournaments are taken very seriously by the major footballing nations, especially in South America and we should be raising their profile in this country. Participation at these international tournaments helps a players development, it's hardly any wonder England players have no idea how to handle the unique environment of tournament football when often they are kept away from it.

Thankfully Veljković is there playing against the best in his age group and gaining valuable exposure.
