Transfer Snips, Paulinho, Bacca, Yedlin, Winks, Konoplyanka

Paulinho is being tracked by AC Milan, Fiorentina, Fenerbahce, Borussia Dortmund, Al-Jazira and Chinese side Guangzhou Evegrande, who, as we know, have offered him a huge wage increase. Tottenham have agreed a fee with the Chinese and it appears personal terms have been agreed, that happens in many instances when a signing isn't made so I would be counting the chickens just yet.

What it has done has told everyone the transfer fee they will need to pay to sign him but if he is discussing personal terms then it confirms why he joined Tottenham, one of the players Tim Sherwood pointed out was here just for the money and not the club. A view I shared after he publicly revealed he was too lazy to learn English. To be the best you can be you should immerse yourself into the county you are in, his performances, or lack of, have confirmed the route Paulinho took was the wrong one.

There are reports from Italy that AC Milan have agreed terms with Sevilla's 28-year-old Colombian striker Carlos Bacca but the latest news is that Roma have emerged as the favourites to eventually sign him. He has been linked with Tottenham, but that looked all press work rather than anything from the club.

If you look at our transfer policy his profile doesn't fit. To me, we are clearly looking for a young striker to develop alongside Harry Kane and an experienced striker to rotate them with and teach them further in the art. A player like Bacca is at the wrong age to be a second choice striker or third choice, Tottenham, therefore, look a totally unrealistic expectation.

Norwich City and Spurs are believed to have now agreed a loan deal for 21-year-old DeAndre Yedlin. A loan spell at a Premier League club will develop Yedlin and let Spurs know what they have on their hands. He has thus far failed to impress in training with his technical level some way below the rest of the squad but he looked better in actual games and raised a few eyebrows.

The standard of the opposition has to be taken into account but he is only young and as with any player coming through the academy, he has to step up a grade of football and test himself.

Harry Winks may be off to Rangers in Scotland. Mark Warburton is looking to take the England Undre-19 midfielder to the Scottish Championship after taking off as manager there this summer. Mauricio Pochettino is said to be pleased with the work he did with Alex Pritchard on loan at Brentford last season which will naturally be a plus for Warburton.

Simply sending a player on loan is not the answer, it has to be on loan to the right club, who want to play the right style of football under a manager who promotes and likes working with youth. Warburton has shown those attributes so this could well happen.

Tottenham Ambassador, Gary Mabbutt, a former Spurs captain who won 16 England caps, shares those views as he told the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail.

"It would be a fantastic move for Rangers to sign Harry and I absolutely believe it comes down to who you are working with. You want those players brought through in a way which suits Tottenham. Mark showed that last season with Alex Pritchard at Brentford. He brought him along so that shouldn’t pose a problem with Rangers.
"Mark is a really good guy. He likes working with young players and has a great idea on how the game should be played. Pritchard did fantastically well last season with Brentford. Mark did superbly well at Brentford and perhaps was not treated as well as he should have been. But Spurs will be aware of what Mark did with Pritchard last year and having players working with him seems an ideal situation."

As revealed last night Yevhen Konoplyanka is in Madrid talking to Atlético Madrid. Both the Ukrainian and Turkish press report he is going to sign for them. Clearly we have spoken to him recently so the situation should be resolved in the next few days. You can read the story here: Konoplyanka to sign for Atlético Madrid.
