Townsend, Imbula & Schneiderlin News

Confusion reigns over Andros Townsend and his future.

The Sunday Telegraph football correspondent has made two tweets tweeted revealing that Tottenham say the England international winger is not for sale, but that two clubs are telling him that yes he is for sale. Olympique Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula has arrived in Portugal to undergo a medical and sign for FC Porto. Only last week he had been set for Inter Milan. It is somewhat surprising that such a highly-regarded player has chosen to step down from a top-tier league to a second-tier one. He is plastered across all the papers in Portugal today.

He had been chased by Valencia and revealed they were his first choice. Valencia were signing 21-year-old Brazilian Rodrigo Ciao from São Paulo, but he has failed the medical with knee problems. They will once again be looking to recruit.

As reported a while back Manchester United defensive midfield target Bastian Schweinsteiger is staying with Bayern Munich and United are turning their attention to their back-up option, Morgan Schneiderlin. Their allure will scupper the remaining chances of him joining Spurs unless terms or a fee can not be agreed. Southampton want to sell and manager Koeman has told reporter Simon Peach the 'no serious offer' has been received. Reporters are suggesting the medical is set to take place within the next three days
