Spurs in job lot talks
2 min read
It seems over the last couple of seasons we have looked at player swaps and we signed two players from Swansea City last summer. Sunderland always seem to want job lots from us and Hull City regularly come calling to see what we might have available.
Monaco had a rich benefactor who pumped money in and bought players, he then had a divorce settlement I think it was and the Monaco money dried up. They had to go from Radamel Falcao to the now 34-year-old Dimitar Berbatov as their striker, he has now left and is a free agent.
Naturally clubs are looking to see who they can pick up from them and we are no exception. We have been in discussions with Marseilles over four of their players, two of which will be out of contract at the end of the month. We are involved in similar discussions with Monaco say Le10 Sport.
Geoffrey Kondogbia is a 22-year-old defensive midfielder wanted by Inter, Manchester City and Arsenal the French outlet say. Le10 Sport tell us Monaco are looking for between £25.72 million (US$39.39m - AUS$51.19m - €35m) and £29.39 million (US$45m - AUS$58.47m - €40m). Well there is no chance of us paying that.
Daniel Levy has met with Vadim Vasilyev, vice president of AS Monaco the French tell us to hold preliminary discussions. They say we have set our sights on several players, including Kondogbia, but don't go on to name them.
Aymen Abdennour is one we have been linked with but he wants Champions League football, João Moutinho was a target for Andre Villas-Boas but his transfer record wasn't very good, we have been linked with Lacina Traoré before.
Given our desire to unearth talent that doesn't cost the earth there may be others we are discussing or trying to come to a lob lot price, it all sounds rather ambitious.
