Plenty of Spurs Speculation

Plenty of speculation out there at the moment and newspapers trying to create stories, Kyle Walker being the latest.

We have has two years of Baldini is about to be sacked, we have the rubbish about Harry Kane with the London Evening Standard suggesting Tottenham might be tempted by a £45 million (US$71.46m - AUS$91.95m - €62.93m) bid. It's complete drivel and what I'd expect from the Metro or the Daily Mail.

You can read why the offer is a poor one in a previous article that takes a wider look at Harry Kane's actual value to Tottenham.

The press of course want a saga every transfer window and as we are considered to be a selling club, when in fact simple economics demonstrate we are a stepping stone for an ambitious player. Sours are thus always good for a story as Daniel Levy can be portrayed as villain or hero.

We have the saga of Hugo Lloris and every keeper we look at, even though we may need a number three, assumed to be a replacement. On 8 August the season starts and barring injury Hugo Lloris will be in goal for Spurs.

Clubs are circling for Andros Townsend who has come out and said he doesn't want to leave, nobody will pay £25 million (US$39.70m - AUS$51.08m - €34.96m) for Érik Lamela so unless he is part of another deal with Juventus he almost certain to still be at the club.

News from Turkey is being portrayed as a move for Roberto Soldado but I'm not sure he'll want to go to Turkey. Galatasaray can pick him up for just £9 million (US$14.29m - AUS$18.39m - €12.59m) I believe and they are willing to offer £2.5 million-a-year (US$3.07m - AUS$5.11m - €3.5m) salary.

You would expect a deal will eventually be done with a Spanish or Italian club, there is interest from both countries. At the moment the stories from Turkey are nothing more than hopeful pie in the sky.
